Meet Christina

Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, Christina grew up in a household where entrepreneurial possibility was ingrained in her from a young age. Her immigrant father, Willy taught her the value of unwavering perseverance and the pursuit of a nonlinear path — both of which have become an enduring red thread throughout her story.
As a highly sensitive person, Christina struggled with her mental health throughout adolescence and early adulthood. With a late diagnosed learning disability, the traditional academic system did not support the way in which she metabolized information. After a relapse of her mental health illness, she inevitably decided to withdraw from her third year of university. The experience ignited a fire in her to pave her own path and create a space for others who didn’t fit into the normative boxes of living life as socially expected.
With a passion for systems and human development, Christina spent six years working in Human Resources while simultaneously completing the UBC Certificate in Organizational Coaching. Ironically, during this time in her early 20s, Christina was sexually harassed in the workplace by an individual. Over the several years throughout this time, Christina experienced first hand the impact of “armouring up” and feeling energetically unsafe each day she stepped into her work environment. Being disconnected from herself (and her experience) in the context of work highlighted that her greatest opportunity for innovation and creativity couldn’t be easily accessed.
In 2016, Christina launched Werklab to support those who didn’t fit into the corporate box with an environment that would feel like home. Through a focus on wellness and celebrating vulnerability, Christina and her team have built a home for entrepreneurs, freelancers and independent workers to create, thrive and connect.
Christina received accolades and media attention for pioneering a conversation around work and mindfulness. After the launch of Werklab’s second larger 13,000 sq ft space, it was apparent that the ethos and relational ideology she fostered needed to be shared globally on an online platform. In the Winter of 2019, Christina launched The Werk, an online editorial platform which exists to disrupt our relationship with work and consciousness. The Werk is a hub for voices and practices from globally acclaimed subject matter experts, entrepreneurs, leaders, inspiring humans and healers.
